Healthy Chocolate Popsicles Recipe for Children (and Adults)

0

Now that the summer is here, there is no better way to enjoy the sun and cool down than with these frozen creamy chocolate fudge pops. They work great as a snack or dessert for the whole family since they are both delicious and nutritious made with only six ingredients.  They are pretty simple to make, so it’s a fun project to do with your child(ren).

For this recipe, I like using a yogurt base to make it a little bit more balanced and filling. When the yogurt is combined with the chocolate and maple syrup, it offers a super creamy texture and no one will even realize they are actually healthy.

I recommend using plain Greek yogurt so the mixture is creamier rather than icy. Plus, this will also add a nice protein boost. Look for unsweetened options so you can control the amount of sugar that goes into your dessert.

Once they are ready, be sure to run the molds in warm water for a few minutes to easily remove the pops.

Popsicle Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt
3 tbsp coconut milk
5-6 tbsp chocolate chips
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Carefully melt the chocolate chips. Microwave in about 15-second intervals, then use a spoon to see if the chocolate is melted. It is easy to burn the chocolate, so be conservative with heating them up and check on them often.
  2. Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend it until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. Taste, and add your preferred sweetener if needed. The mixture should taste a little too sweet, as sweetness level will decrease once frozen.
  4. Pour into popsicle molds and freeze for 6-8 hours.
