I am a stay at home mom to two preschool-aged kids, 13 months apart. These days are long and often feel like groundhog day, the same thing over and over. Having Bridget Eldridge come and photograph us for a few hours in the afternoon brought a bit of anxiety as I racked my brain for things we could all do together while trying my best to maneuver bad attitudes and referee the usual squabbles. But after receiving these beautiful snapshots that Bridget captured, I’m seeing these moments for what they are, precious and fleeting, in need of being cherished.
2:30 pm: I play with my little man while his sister sleeps. He’s gotten really into card games lately and he adores getting special time with me, the feeling is mutual.
3:00 pm: I wake up my little one who would otherwise sleep the afternoon away. I bribe her with a snack and finally get her over her grumpy sleepiness and win a smile.
3:30 pm: We proceed to pass the time with a nerf gun fight, puzzles, dancing in the kitchen and checking on our blueberry bush.
Of course, we have some tough moments and tantrums requiring snuggles. But seeing all of these photos reminds me, there are way more smiles and giggles than the hard moments.
5:15 pm: ALL three of us anxiously wait for daddy to come home.
